Construction waste

Construction waste is the waste that is created during the renovation process of an existing house or during the construction of a new building. Construction waste is usually solid, dry waste, which includes materials such as concrete, iron, sand, cement, asphalt and sometimes also wood, various metals and other materials used to build or renovate the building. Construction waste, depending on the scope of the construction or renovation, can reach large dimensions that do not allow its removal with the means available to the residents of the street, and it requires a more orderly removal. For this purpose, the construction or renovation contractor should take care to rent a waste removal container and make sure that it is properly located and evacuated in accordance with all the regulations that guarantee safety during the removal and disposal of the waste to an appropriate waste site. Only in recent years, after large amounts of construction waste were simply evacuated to open areas without any supervision and without any permit, did the removal of construction waste begin to be enforced. Today, if waste is not removed according to the regulations, heavy fines are expected to be imposed on the work contractor and the work orderer. So it’s worth making sure that the whole matter of waste removal is done by authorized parties and according to the law.

Removal of construction waste

Removal of construction waste begins with the removal of the waste from the construction or renovation site itself to the container. Many times, especially when it comes to a multi-story building, a waste sleeve made of hard plastic will be connected from the door of the apartment under construction to the container located at the foot of the building. Since this is dry waste that may crumble and produce dust or be scattered on the street, the junction between the container and the waste sleeve must be covered with a jute cloth so that the waste does not scatter outside the container. In recent years, more and more efforts are being made to recycle construction waste as well, by shredding the waste, of course after sorting and sifting it. The result of the recycling process is a kind of gravel that can be used for further construction work. Of course, recycling is done at special sites designated for this purpose, landfill and recycling sites to which, according to law, building waste can only be removed. Evacuation to an unauthorized site is a criminal offense which, as mentioned, also carries with it fines. The building waste removal regulations are still not properly implemented and in many cases the waste removal is done illegally. It is hoped that the growing enforcement efforts will bring about a change and allow us to recycle more and more of our building waste as well. Construction waste
